Toynol® DS-193L/193H Dispersing Agent
1 🎯 Abstract
Toynol® DS-193L/193H are high-performance water-based dispersing agents, composed of a mixture of amine alkyl hydroxy affixture of HMW styrene acrylic copolymers and surfactant. They feature good pigment and filler wetting effect, outstanding deflocculation, and powerful charge repulsion. APEO-free, they can reduce grinding system viscosity, improve millbase color development, and are specially suitable for organic/inorganic mixed pigment dispersion, compatible with various powders.

3 🛠️ Application Guide
3.1 Recommended Application Fields
Water-based inks
Architectural coatings
Wood and furniture coatings
Automotive coatings
Can coatings
Anticorrosive paints
Leather coatings
Suitable for phthalocyanine organic pigments, azo organic pigments, titanium dioxide and other organic/inorganic powder materials
3.2 Usage Methods and Recommended Dosage
3.2.1 Recommended Dosage
Organic pigments: 10-50% (based on pigment, calculated by dispersant solid content SOP)
Inorganic pigments (titanium dioxide): 3-7% (based on pigment, calculated by dispersant solid content SOP)
3.2.2 Operation Guidance
Add dispersant to water first, then add powder; stir at 4000rmp/min for 10min. After the powder is completely wetted, add grinding glass beads to start timing grinding.
Do not add wetting agents separately; Toynol® wetting agents can accelerate original powder wetting.
Adding Toynol® defoamers can quickly eliminate grinding foam.
To obtain optimal performance, Toynol® additives must be added to water before resin and pigment.
It is advisable to conduct gradient tests to get the optimal dosage.
3.2.3 Grinding Operation
Dispersing sand mill, glass bead (0.8-1.2mm), filling rate 70%, grinding at 3000rmp/min for 60min.
3.2.4 Performance Evaluation
Centrifugal stability: Take 20ml millbase into centrifuge tube, centrifuge for 10min under 3000r/min, observe millbase layering, pour out liquid and calculate precipitate amount and percentage.
Viscosity evaluation: Use Brookfield rotational viscometer.
Fineness measure: Scraper fineness meter.
Viscosity stability: Store millbase in 100ml wide-mouth bottle at 40℃ for 24 hours, measure viscosity change; ±50% change is regarded as qualified.
